WNBA Recap
Aug 27, 2024This past Tuesday, Strong Girls United had the incredible honor of being the community spotlight at a landmark event in the world of women’s sports—the first-ever WNBA game in Boston! In front of a sold-out crowd at the iconic TD Garden, we proudly hosted 250 passionate attendees, all united in our shared mission to celebrate and elevate women’s basketball.
The significance of this game cannot be overstated. Not only was it the first WNBA game ever held at TD Garden, but it also marked a record-breaking moment for the Connecticut Sun. With 19,156 tickets sold, this game became the team’s sixth sellout of the 2024 season, boasting the third-highest attendance for a WNBA game this season. It was also the largest number of tickets ever sold for a Connecticut Sun game in the franchise’s history—an achievement that speaks volumes about the growing support for women’s sports.
As a nonprofit dedicated to empowering and uplifting girls through sports, Strong Girls United was thrilled to be part of this historic occasion. Our presence at this game wasn’t just about celebrating a win; it was about championing the future of women’s basketball and the countless girls who dream of following in the footsteps of these incredible athletes. We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us on this special night. Together, we are not only witnessing history—we are making it. Thank you for your continued support as we work to inspire the next generation of strong, confident, and united girls.
