Strong Girls United at the Paris Olympics🥇

Aug 22, 2024

The 2024 Paris Olympics were a spectacular celebration of sports, with a special spotlight on women’s achievements! For two weeks, representatives from the Strong Girls United team traveled to Paris to join in on the excitement and cheer on the world’s most inspiring athletes.

In addition to cheering from the stands, we were thrilled to see some of our alumni qualify for the Games! Our amazing former FAM mentor, Katelyn Abeln, competed on the US Shooting Team, and our former Associate Director of FAM, Skyler Espinoza, will compete in the Paralympics alongside her tandem cycling partner, Hannah Chadwick. Connecting with other fans and athletes, and spreading our mission of empowering girls through sport, mentorship, and mental health programming, made this Olympic experience truly unforgettable.

We also had the incredible opportunity to meet up with 3x Olympian Phylicia George and Mac Morse of The Sideline Perspective outside the Louvre. Our conversations covered everything from sports and the Olympics to gender equality and injury recovery. These insightful discussions added even more depth to our Olympic experience.

A Historic Moment in Sports

The last time the Olympics were held in Paris, back in 1924, only 4.4% of the competitors were women. Fast forward 100 years, and the 2024 Paris Olympics marked the first Games to achieve gender parity! 🌟 It’s incredible to look back at the pioneers who changed the game and paved the way for women today. We are so grateful to have attended and celebrated this historic moment, witnessing firsthand the power and progress of women in sports.

We were thrilled to witness packed arenas and cheer on so many incredible athletes at every event we attended! From basketball superstars like A'ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Brittney Griner, and Hailey Van Lith, to the 2x Gold medalist Michaela Blyde of New Zealand Rugby, we met so many inspiring Strong women who are making history.
