Just A Girl: A Showering Success

Saturday, June 23rd, 2024 was a special day yet again. On the 52nd anniversary of Title IX, our second annual Just a Girl 5k|10k was an absolute SMASH!

With some heavy rain looking to dampen the day, race participants rolled out in full force to support our organization and promote the empowerment of girls and women in sport. With over 60 participants attending in person and braving the rain, the day was destined to be a memorable one. Also facing the downpour with smiles and support was Aysia Reed of Channel 13 News, highlighting our cause and story for all viewers that night.

Strong Girls United Executive Director Lani Silversides said it best: “We are immensely grateful to everyone who braved the downpours to join us for the Just a Girl 5k/10k race on Sunday. Katie Stannard and Teresa Esposito's vision to empower girls and women while supporting our nonprofit has truly come to life, and we are deeply thankful for their dedication. Partnering with them for the second annual event and being surrounded by such inspiring and strong women is truly incredible.”
Some very wet smiles combined with some impressive run times left the Strong Girls United team feeling proud and even more motivated and aligned in our mission and core values (if that was even possible!). One HUGE thank you goes out to Allison Talon, our amazing event photographer!!
This past Sunday marked two years in a row for a rainy Just a Girl race. While we are feeling empowered post-downpour, we can’t wait to see what the weather brings us in year 3! Mark your calendars now, as we are BEYOND excited to see you on June 22nd, 2025, for the next one.
